Zelda Music on Scott Prilgrim vs The World

So a while ago I saw the commericials on Scott Pilgrim vs The World.  At first I was like, meh, it looks cool.  Didn't expect it to be so good.  I started to hear nothing but good stuff about the movie.  One person in particular told me it would be the only movie he would go to the movies more than twice to see it again.  So, of course, I had to watch it when I got the chance.  I'm glad I did!

For those of you who don't know, Scott Pilgrim vs The World is about a boy named Scott Pilgrim who starts dreaming about a girl named Ramona Flowers.  When Ramona turns out to be a real person, he becomes obsessed with her and the two soon begin to date.  But in order to be with her, Scott has to defeat Ramona's seven evil exes.

It sounds kinda corny but it turned out to be amazing.  I especially liked the dream sequence in the movie where they used the "Fairy Fountain" theme from the "Legend of Zelda" game.  I'm a big time Zelda nerd, so it tickled me to hear this in a movie.  If anyone is a fan of Zelda or any video game, watch Scott Pilgrim vs The World.  You'll feel like you're watching a video game on its own.  You will not be disappointed.

I think I will write a review on it.  I also have to world on some video game reviews as well.

Cooking With Dog: My Favorite Cooking Show

So Cooking With Dog is a cooking show on Youtube that focuses mainly on Japanese dishes.  The show consists of a Japanese woman who cooks with a tiny poodle watching over her as a cook.  A narrator who sounds a lot like Ken Tanaka from "Help Me Find My Parents".  It's quickly become my favorite cooking show for many reasons.  1, it's very informative.  Sometimes when I watch it, the narrator with explain exactly what it is your using.  For example, he will explain that "dango" is a redbean treat the Japanese use in sweeter dishes.  Or he'll explain a short amount of information of what is about to be made. 

2, it's prompt.  I really dislike the cooking shows on television for the simple fact that the shows take too long due to the commericials or talking or preparation time, it takes away from it all and usually doesn't make it very entertaining.  On Cooking With Dog, the episodes usually last anywhere from 5-8 minutes.  If you think about it, you can watch 5-7 episodes of Cooking With Dog before watching an entire episode of a random cooking show on the Food Network.  Cooking With Dog finds a way to show how to properly prepare the dish quickly without taking away from the quality of the video or making you want to watch the video again because you felt something wasn't explained well enough. 

3, it's resource able.  While most youtube cooking sites just show you what you need to do to make the dish, but leave you with no recipe, Cooking With Dog always posts the entire recipe in the description for you to copy and paste or print out.  This to some may seem minute, but it's very good food for some who can't always get to a computer with internet.

I have made a few dishes from the show and have learned that with some of the dishes, it may take some practice to get them right.  But it's very easy to pick up on and every dish I've made weather it came out looking right or not, was always delicious!

A big downfall with Cooking With Dog is that most of ingredients used in the videos are very hard to find due to the fact that you can only find them in Asian supermarkets.  So if you want to get into the dishes, you might want to watch some videos first and then make up a separate grocery list for an Asian supermarket.  I'm lucky to live pretty close to one but I know for a fact that this isn't the case for everyone.  You can probably find some of the ingredients online if you look hard enough.

Thoughts on hentai

For those of you who don't know, hentai is a Japanese anime-style porn.  It's an otaku's wet dream, basically.  I was planning on telling you how exactly hentai appeals to me, but that might be boring, no?  So I guess I will talk about all kinds of hentai and my thoughts on it all.

Shibari
Shibari hentai is basically fancy for bondage, BDSM.  This is my favorite and least favorite category.  Bare with me on this one.  It's my favorite category because, you guessed it, I'm a fan of bondage.  I love the domination and helplessness of it all.  Plus hentai makes it so much better than regular porn.  The bad things: Japanese has an obsession with enemas and shit.  Usually in bondage hentai, some girl will get a tube shoved in her ass and shit will soon pour not to long after.  It completely kills the mood and quality when this happens in an anime.


Guro
It's short for grotesque.  It's pretty self explanatory.  I can honestly say that if anyone gets a sexual rise out of Guro hentai, then there must be something wrong with them.  If you love watching porn that involed fucking, cutting open the girl with a hook, pulling out her intestines until they snap, and then rolling around in the blood, sexually aroused, then Guro hentai is just for you!  On a good note, it's interesting to watch Guro in a non-sexual sense just to see how fucked up it can be.  It's not something you could watch in a regular porno.

Incest
 Don't beat me up for this but the incest hentai can be some of the hottest hentai out there, despite the fact it's usually a brother having sex with his sister.

The Visual Novels I Never Finished

Okay, so my previous blog post was about the visual novels I've played an enjoyed.  This post is about the 2 games I've tried but never finished.

Kana: Little Sister
Okay, this one was one that I had read about as being one of the most controversial games created in Japan.  Upon playing it, I could disagree to some degree.  Of course, I never finished the game so I can't quite say for sure.  Someday, I would like to but there was a lot of things I didn't like about the game.  First, there was way to much hype that I read about and not enough to fulfill me when I actually played it.  Second, the game was pretty cheaply made.  It was simply pictures and text.  There were no sprites or music.  Then again, I didn't have the soundtrack mounted on the game so that may be why there was no music.  But to be frank, it wasn't the best visually.  Lastly, there wasn't much choices to interact with.  There might have been 2 or 3 in the 3 hours I've played it.  That's not enough for me.  The story had the potential to be a good game (it's about a boy falling in love with his sister who has renal insufficiency and is dying, go figure), but there was too much taking away from it.

Clannad
This game is one I just started.  I'm excited about it for the most part, but I'm not sure what it's about yet.  I'm not even sure if I'm playing a guy or a girl.  I'm pretty sure it's a guy though. I'm trying to set aside time to play this before I make a final decision on weather I like it or not.

Visual Novels

I've played very few visual novels but the idea and gameplay of them especially intrigue me.  I have always been a fan of reading and visual novels, especially those concerning anime, is like a delicious packaged treat just waiting for me.  So far, I've only played Princess Debut, Red Shift, and Ace Attorney as for anime visual novels.  The non-anime visual novels I've played were Surviving High School and College Romance.  The games I have started and have not finished are Kana: Little Sister and Clannad.

College Romance
This was a simple online game in visual novel format that got me started in my obsession for visual novels.  It was basically a game where you play a guy and through your 4 college years, you have to meet, woo, and date 1 or more of 5 girls.  Based on what you decide to do through the game will give you different outcomes.  I'll be honest, the game was a 3 out of 10.  The artwork was terrible and the music was SO annoying, but the dialogue and mediocre story made up for it.  It was enough to peak my interest in the world of visual novel games.

Red Shift
This was a free game I discovered on the internet that I downloaded it and tried to play it.  To be honest, I can't quiet be sure if this should be called a game at all.  The story was just as it was: a story.  You never made any decisions for the character, you just point and click and watch.  So at first, I was a bit disappointed.  The story was very well written and could easily be written into a novel or even a manga.  It took about 3 or 4 hours to complete but I was glad I played it.  The story was quite satisfying.

Princess Debut
This game was turned on by a friend who was playing it before me.  Since I really wanted a good visual novel, I gave it a try.  I didn't find it, but this game was entertaining.  You play as yourself, naturally, and you one day meet a girl looking exactly like you and with the same name.  She claims she is the princess of the Flower Kingdom and that she has to attend a dance competition in 30 days but doesn't want to do it.  So you switch places with her and enter the Flower Kingdom in her stead.  During your 30 days, you have to practice dancing while trying to find dance partners within certain prince's you find in the kingdom.  At the end, you do the competition and hope you win.  And that's all.  The dance practice was a bit annoying but the game was interesting.  It's a good starter visual-novel.

Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations
I finally found my excellent visual novel.  This game was epic in every way possible.  The music, the characters, the story, the gameplay: EVERYTHING.  You play as the character Phoenix Wright, a defense attorney who takes on mostly murder cases.  You have to successfully defend 5 cases, all of which are closely tied together.  I don't want to reveal much about this game because if I were to recommendany game to anyone, this is the one.  You have to play this game.  This is the third game for the "Phoenix Wright" series, so the story may confuse you at first but you catch on quickly enough.  PLAY THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Surviving High School
This was a cute game.  They have many versions of this game but it started on the cell phone.  You basically play a high school student and you have to may decisions for the character so you can either become Prom King, get straight As, star in a play, etc.  This is a good game for kids.  I've completely out grown the high school thing.

Anime I Really Want To Watch

There is so many anime that I have yet to watch, that I'm thinking it may be wise to put it in writing as a reference to some sort.  I have a problem with skipping around to different anime that I forget which ones I've already watched and which ones I really want to watch.  So here is my top 10 list.

1.  Vampire Knight.  Every "Best Anime Ever" lists I've read has always had this one right here on it at some point or another.  I've heard it's really awesome, so I have to get to it somehow.

2.  Bleach.  I know, I know, this should have been watched by me already but I never got the chance to!  I think it's because I'm just not ready for a long anime.

3.  Death Note.  Yet another one I should have finished. 

4.  One Piece.  Don't ask why, I'm just curious.

5.  Loveless.  I started watching this before but never finished it.  I would like to one day, though!

6.  The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.  Same as the one above.  It's so popular, I should have finished this a while ago.

7.  Princess Mononoke.  This is technically a movie, but it's the only Hayao Miyazaki movie I haven't seen.

8.  The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.  Again, it's a movie.  But I really want to see it.

9.  Kanon.  I really want to see this because I think it looks really interesting.  I like a good drama, anyway.

10.  Mahoromantic.  I heard of this from a friend and thought it sounded stupid at first.  But now I'm intrigued.

I think pretty soon I'm going to watch The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.  But until then, Ja Mata!
